on our bathroom counter
is a hairspray can of impressive proportions
reasonably priced per volume

during the summer
we are also in the frequent company
of a hummingbird's shadow on the wall
due to the feeder outside

a family of four congregates in this room
as the morning's pace begins to quicken
two by vanity, one by infancy
and one by simple choice
